Who's going to run your clubs and societies next year?

With the way things at UCL are structured (exams in term 3), the Spring Term becomes one where lots and lots of things have to happen. Some clubs and societies will start to tie up their main activities for the year with the events that their members have been working towards all year, but as (or perhaps more) importantly, it's time to start thinking about next year.

Each club and society will be holding an Annual General Meeting this term, at which all members are free to stand for a committee position, be it President, Treasurer, or any other committee position.

If you've ever thought about standing for a committee position, or just wondered about how your club or society is run, then this could be the time to find out more. With half a term to go before the AGM and its election, you've got plenty of time to contact the current committee; perhaps go along to a meeting or two, find out what it's about, ask a few questions and see if you're interested.

Being a Club or Society Officer or committee member is one of the most rewarding things you can do at UCL: socially, practically (through the skills you'll develop, and the things you'll learn), and just generally, through helping a club or society which you're glad to be a member of prosper!

So have a think about it, and think about having a word or two with whoever's in the position at the moment...

Happy New Year!
