Debating
The Debating Society was formed in 1828 and is the oldest society in UCL. Our flagship events are regular Monday evening debates, covering everything from topical issues, to fascinating cultural debates or just something light, amusing and entertaining. Society debates always attract big names to passionately defend their case with a large student attendance to engage with the speakers.
Becoming part of the Debating Society provides the opportunity to get involved in competition debating throughout the UK and Ireland. We also run workshops for the student body, giving those the opportunity to improve their public speaking skills and confidence.
