Drama
Welcome to Drama Society!
Last year, Drama Society staged 17 productions:
13 in our studio theatre, the UCLU Garage Theatre Workshop; 2 in the West End Bloomsbury Theatre; ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ in the Quad; and one charity performance of the ‘Vagina Monologues’ in the Edward Lewis LT.
And last year, every single Drama Society production involved Freshers and new members in their casts. Several plays were even directed and produced by Freshers! Our new members are extremely important to the society so please don’t feel worried about getting involved.
Additionally, through Drama Society many members also became involved in other societies’
Bloomsbury productions, including the LGBT Pantomime ‘Cinderella’, the J-Soc play ‘Narghile Nights’, and the Classical Drama Society’s comedy, ‘Acharnians’.
We’re not just looking for actors, however. If you’re interested in:directing, writing, producing and fund-raising, set, publicity and costume design - please let us know; we’d love to make sure you can be just as involved in Drama Society as your thespian colleagues. Experience is always useful, but if you don’t have any yet, don’t worry we can help you to gain it!
We don't just do plays, either. We are currently finalising a busy social calendar for 2007-8, including parties, workshops, theatre trips, and a costumed pub crawl. Also, we are hoping to work closely with the Clubs 2 Communities project run by the VSU. At the moment we are arranging free Garage matinees for local Old Age Homes, and Shakespeare work in Camden Schools.
If any of this takes your fancy, visit our website, have a look at this term's calendar, and send us a message!
