We Heart RUMS

We Heart RUMS, 25-29th January 2010

Campaign Objective

To celebrate the history of the medical school and inspire the students to continue traditions and engage.

Campaign Summary

During our week we aim to celebrate the history of the medical school, engage medical students in the RUMS democratic meetings and host a reception to thank students for their contribution to the school. Alongside this we hope to officially engage RUMS in the BMA campaign 'Look after our NHS', a campaign that fights against privatisation of the NHS and its services. It will also initiate a London-wide petition calling for commitment to education of future generations of doctors in the face of health care sector funding cuts and reconfiguration of health care provisions.

We hope the week will involve as many medical students as possible as well as the rest of the student population.

Students For Ethical Investment

8-12th March 2010

Campaign Objective

To raise awareness of College investments and the influence that students can exert on these now the EIRC (Ethical Investment Review Committee) is in place. Ultimately to highlight the benefits of ethical investment to a wider audience.

Campaign Summary

Concerned that UCL invests in Nestle despite the union boycott? Worried that UCL investments are worsening climate change? Students have a right to know which investments their university holds and also a role to play in influencing these investments. Now that UCL students have won the fight for transparent investments and an Ethical Investment Review Committee, we need to raise awareness of how students can bring their concerns to this committee and get their voices heard. The campaign will aim to win further support for the ethical investment by highlighting the benefits it could bring to UCL and the wider community.

Mental Health Week

Campaign Summary

This campaign will raise awareness of mental health issues in the student community and work to promote good mental health among UCL students. It will also encourage students to be more aware of what they can do for their mental health and that of others, as well as promoting various methods of dealing with stress and anxiety at exam time.
