Standing for office
UCL Union is run by democratically elected students, who are directly accountable to their peers, i.e. You. Anyone can stand to be elected and become part of the team dedicated to making student life at UCL the best it can possibly be.

How do I run?
All you have to do to is fill out a nomination form, also available around the Union building, and get yourself seconded by a friend. You’ll then need to come along to the Candidates Briefing.

How does the election process work?
Once all the nominations have been declared, there is a period for campaigning, usually of around a week during the General Elections. Voting week sees students asked to cast their votes for their favourite candidates. The Union uses a system known as Single Transferable Vote (STV) to decide the winning candidate for each position

What's involved in being an officer?
There are a number of different types of office, ranging from full-time sabbatical positions to being a representative in your halls of residence or for your faculty. Sabbatical Officers receive a salary during their year in the job, whilst part-time officers are required to fit their commitments in around their studies.
