Summer 2008
Welcome to the Summer 2008, stress-busting Give it a Go programme. With all the exams and revision this term Give it a Go brings activities to help you stay on top of the pressure and reenergise, so you’re at your best. Plus there’s loads of fun trips and activities to do after the exams.
As always you can do as much or as little as you like; there’s no need to join anything and you don’t need any experience to take part. You’ll be able to try out a variety of activities with likeminded students and everything is booked and waiting for you to sign up, so why not try something new?

Give it a Go has loads to offer you this week. There the chance to relax and try out Tai Chi, a Kendo taster to let out all your frustration, the chance to take part in some Moonlit Volunteering and a trip to see the historic Leeds Castle.

***Tai Chi
Tai Chi is a relaxing Chinese martial art practiced for its calming abilities. It promotes good health, physical co-ordination, relaxation, self defense, exercise and self-development. It’s great for anybody who wants to relax their mind and body or just try something new!

Wednesday 14 May
***Kendo Taster
This fun, high energy taster is brought to you by UCLU Kendo Club. Kendo is a Japanese martial art which uses swords as weapons. Come along and see what it’s all about and you’re guaranteed to have loads fun practising the hitting moves with sticks and unleashing some pent up frustration.

***Trip to Leeds Castle
Take a trip to the historic Leeds Castle and its beautiful grounds. Dating back to 1119 the castle is steeped in history has been home to many royals with Henry VIII being a frequent visitor. A stunning castle, period architecture, family treasures, renowned aviaries, beautiful gardens and much, much more await you!

***Moonlit Volunteering – Walk the Walk
MoonWalk is a moonlit charity walk that raises money for people affected by breast cancer. Walk the Walk needs a strong team of volunteers to support the 15,000 people as they complete in the walk. Volunteers are needed to register competitors, hand out hot food and water, give out medals and goody bags, marshal the route, drive support cars, cycling and generally being enthusiastic and supportive. Come and take part in some moonlit volunteering!
Sat 6pm to Sun 1pm
Travel expenses covered.
FREE
All sessions must be booked in advance at CSC reception, 2nd Floor, UCL Bloomsbury.

If you want to try out your fancy foot work on the ice then there’s no better place to start than this taster session held by UCLU’s Ice Club. It’s loads of fun and great exercise, you might be interested in figure skating, ice hockey or just want to see how long you can stand up for. There will be tutors on hand to help you get going and members of the Ice Club to help out. Ideal for beginners!

Midsummer’s Night Dream - SOLD OUT
Shakespeare’s Globe was reconstructed in 1997 as a replica of how a Shakeperean playhouse would have stood hundreds of years ago. Seeing a live play there is a magical, unforgettable experience. What better play to see in this open air theatre with summer fast approaching than Midsummer’s Night Dream, the dreamy comical tale of love, identity and trust?
