Karting AGM

Ok, its that time of the year when all the Clubs and Societies hold an Annual General Meeting. This is where we decide who runs the show next year, and whats going to happen. There will be a vote for 4 committee positions who will be running the club next year.

The AGM will be held on the 27th of February at 3pm in room 204 in the Bloomsbury Building. If you think you can fit any of these roles and would like to give it a shot for next year, you need to nominate yourself by the 25th of February to be a candidate. Just email me if you want to be nominated. In order for it to be a vaild AGM, we need at least 20 people to come and vote, so its important that you come, even if you are not a candidate. Being a committee member is great fun is a good CV builder, especially when you want to stand out from the crowd when applying for internships/graduate jobs.

Here are the positions:

President
You will be in charge of the general running of the club. It'll be you who decides where the events are going to be, booking the events, and making sure payments and other stuff go through on time and smoothly. You'll also be in charge of emails and general communication. You also have to be able to attend the Presidents pre departure briefing on the 29th of May 2008 or 2nd of June 2008.

Treasurer
It'll be your job to make sure payments go in and out smoothly and keep the account in the black. You'll need to keep a log of all transactions and make sure all the BACS requests are filed in time and make sure the grant money is spent sensibly. You also have to be able to attend the Treasurers pre departure briefing on the 27th of May 2008 or 4th June 2008.

Logistics Officer
It'll be your job to find the easiest way to get to the tracks we'll be visiting when we hold an event, and make sure everyone knows whats happening. You'll have to email all the entrants a week before letting them know the plan for the day, then be able to meet everyone on the day, do a head count, and take them to the track on time. If you're not racing on that particular day, your travel costs will be reimbursed.

BUKC Team Captain
It'll be your job to lead UCL's team in the British Universities Karting Championships. You'll have to sort out all the advance payments for the rounds, make sure everyone knows what they're doing and be in charge of things like strategy, helping drivers and transport. You will need to attend all of the BUKC rounds. Being team Captain doesn't necessarily guarantee you a position in the BUKC team, as the team will be selected in a trials held at the start of the year. Also as you'll only be in charge of 4 (or possible 8 next year) people, its not as much of a handful as it sounds. Ideally, you should have raced in the BUKC this season.

Don't worry if you feel you haven't got enough experience to fill the role you're thinking of applying for, this years team will be around to help, along with the Union and the will be a handover pack telling you what you need to know.
