WELCOME

Welcome to the UCLU Kickboxing Society's webpage. We are proud to provide the newest, freshest and coolest form of martial arts on offer at UCL, affiliated to the Union for the first time this academic year.

People decide to learn kickboxing for various reasons like self-defence, to keep fit or as a means of stress relief. Whatever your reason, this club is open to all and caters for all ability levels, so don't worry if you haven't done kickboxing before (because we're new the majority of our members do not have prior kickboxing experience).

The brand of kickboxing we practice is called Shotokan, with this club partnering the Freestyle Tigers kickboxing chain. Our aims are clear- to help all of our members "keep fit, stay focused and learn how to fight".
Our sessions are lead by a fully qualified external instructor, with each session comprising of three main parts: stretching, stamina building & flexibility; fighting technique practice & consolidation; and finally sparring. Expect to be pushed both physically and mentally during every session. All that being said, also expect to have alot of fun along the way.
If you have any interest in self-defence, taking up a sport to stay fit or even if you want to seriously dedicate yourself to this very practical and challenging martial art, this is the place for you. We offer classes for a whole range of abilities and cater to a whole range of tastes. If you have any questions don't hesitate to email, or even better, join our new Facebook group and leave any questions there. Just search for UCLU Kickboxing Society.

This takes place the week after Freshers' Fayre on the 25th and 26th, which you should all come all to, our stall will be in the main building. Come along, sign up (with no commitment) and get a flyer. It will have all the info of our taster sessions. Actual joining will happen the week after that. That's when you'll have to pay the membership fee of 5 pounds. So come along to our classes and see if the sport is for you.
As an added incentive, we will be going the pub after Kickboxing practice for some mix and mingle. For all of you who can't drink alcohol this month, that's cool, you'll still get to meet lots of cool people. They say societies are the way to meet people and it's true.
