Free Wednesdays:

We’re currently undertaking some research into how many postgraduates have their Wednesday afternoons free from college responsibilities.

If you don’t already know, it is UCL policy for all undergraduates to have Wednesday Afternoons free from teaching so that they may take part in Union club or society events. The majority of sports fixtures take place on a Wednesday.

As this policy does not extend to postgraduates, we are interested in how many of you have commitments on Wednesday afternoons.

Please can you spend 5 minutes answering a few questions:

The survey is open to both Masters and PhD students. The results of the survey can help us lobby college to keep Wednesdays free for postgraduates to engage with other activities.

Women Participants needed:
Do you suffer from panic attacks or intrusive distressing thoughts and
compulsions?

We are carrying out a study exploring beliefs about having children in the context of experiencing anxiety problems. We are looking for women who suffer from OCD or panic problems to take part, and we would very much like to hear from people who have children as well as those who do not. The study is being run by The Institute of Psychiatry and the Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma, under Professor Paul Salkovskis, and is also part of doctoral research at University College London.

If you decide to take part, we will ask you to complete questionnaires (which you can return by post) about your views on parenting and your anxiety problems. We will also need to carry out a brief interview, which will take approximately 20-30 minutes and can be done by telephone or at The Centre for Anxiety Disorders and Trauma if you prefer.

As a token of thanks, we will offer you a £10 voucher, and you will be invited to an optional follow-up session where findings will be discussed after the research is complete.

This study has been reviewed by the Joint SLAM and the IoP NHS Research Ethics Committee (REC reference: 08/H0807/102). If you are interested in taking part and would like further information, please send us your contact details (including tel. number)

You can get in touch by:
Telephone: 0203 228 3390
Email: Hannah.Moncad@iop.kcl.ac.uk

Your participation will help us to gain a better understanding of anxiety problems and how to help those affected.
