Formed in 2001, the UCL Stop-the-War Society is one of the largest and most active anti-war student groups in the country. We are a diverse group of students, united by our opposition to military action carried out in the name of a "war on terror". We call for an immediate end to the US/UK occupation of Iraq, respecting the rights and wishes of Iraqis, including the Kurds and other minority groups. We opposed the attack on Afghanistan and the ongoing military operations there. We also oppose assaults on human rights and democratic freedoms under cover of the "war on terror" and condemn the racism fostered by this environment. We have organised speaker meetings, direct-action training, film-showings, teach-ins, exhibitions, comedy nights, campaigns in the student union, and numerous marches. We organise inclusively and democratically, with no society committee - all decisions are made collectively at our weekly activist meetings every Thursday at 5pm in Room 105 in the CSC. So, whether you simply wish to learn more about the issues concerned or help us organise our campaigns, please don't hesitate to get involved.
