I’m sure that at some point you’ve all grumbled about the Union, complained about its bars, got frustrated by its red tape but felt like you just can’t make a difference to it all. But now is your chance to make some changes.
Nominations have opened for the UCL Union general elections. There are part time positions and sabbatical positions to choose from. For more info on what this means or what the position involve follow the links form eth front page to THE BIG VOTE.
You don't have to have any specific kind of experience to run, we will give you support in how to run your campaign and how to finance it.
If you have any questions about elections, any of the positions or just generally about the Union, drop me or the General Secretary an email. You can get hold of us on mss.officer@ucl.ac.uk and general.secretary@union.ucl.ac.uk
There are loads of reasons to run; you get to make changes in eth union, you learn communications, leadership, teamwork, planning and problem solving skills. But this year there is even more of a reason for you to run …
The time has come for UCLU to pull up its socks, smooth down its hair, take a deep breath and move forward. We’re reviewing the whole structure of UCL Union, from the top down and then back up again. The rules will change, the leaders will change and the way that clubs, societies and students can get what they want done should be become easier and clearer. This whole process is called the governance review and it could have a huge impact on the future of the Union. Before any changes can happen you all need to have your say and then it will go to referendum for you all to vote on. (Look out for open meetings).
So in all this flux and change it is going to be essential for the Union to have some strong officers who can help see through this change as smoothly as possibly they can and to make sure that the any changes that happen really happen for the good of the Unions membership, the 20, 000 students at UCL.
Nominations have opened and will stay open until March 1st, so if you want to take on the baton of one of the crucial officer roles you need to pick up a nominations pack, fill it in and drop it in a box. These forms and boxes can be found in the Union reception (Ground floor 25 Gordon Street) and the SU office at the Royal Free.
