So I've been told that blogging is the way forward and I guess it's about time I did one.
For those of you new to UCL welcome and congratulations on getting into UCL. I'm the sabbatical officer in charge of Education and Welfare. This means I am an elected student who represents your views to college and makes sure that you have an academically sound and safe experience whilst at UCL.
Many people may say that students are only here to get drunk the truth is what makes you a student is your desire to learn...well get a degree and then a job. My task this year is to make sure that you get this, so wether you're having a problem with your course, money or halls I am here to help and represent YOU.
I also take the lead on our representation to the NUS so if there's something big you feel needs changing then I'm your person.
To returning students I also say congratulations at passing the last year. I plan to work constantly to improve your education and welfare and results are already happening. This year there will be extended weekend library hours and hopefully more developments will come. Exemption to council taxes are also in the piplines as well as other things.
To close I'll say that I, and I imagine the rest of your student officers, look forward to meeting and working with you this year so feel free to drop in for a chat, coffee or hug (I give the best in the world).
