After the hard work put in this year by the Union Executive Officers and the high level of engagement of the student body, there was one more step to make. The Education Act of 1994 stipulates that any changes to a Students Union’s constitution must be formally approved by the Council of the parent institution. After a presentation and papers submitted detailing the changes, the Council were happy to accept and approve the changes, congratulating the Union on the level of student involvement in shaping its future.

We are delighted that we now are finally in a position to register with the Charity Commission and become a separate institution. This will ensure a healthy future for UCLU and the continued student focus and student control of our operations.
