Was wondering if it's possible to post any information on how to publish the microsite and how to edit the content of old sites. I've had access for kitsite for a while now but by using the "publishing" feature nothing happens. Also access to old site through FTP doesn't seem to work :S The first few e-mail regarding the new microsites promised training but that never materialised?
Any news or help on that front much appreciated.Dance Society Website Admin

We had the same problem, e-mail kitsite, it would seem they have to do something to your site for it to come up the first site, afterwards it all usually works... Except today when it tells me I'm not allowed to post to my blog for some reason...

Yeah I'm having the same problem. It gives me an error ""Error 32: Permission denied to post to this blog"... Grr I get similar problems with Events and Calendar section :S... Which society are you? I'd like to check your website out. :)

Update (further to e-mail sent) - At various boards (Arts, Societies and so on) next week and the week after we'll be having a Microsite demonstration, where we talk you through the process of making and maintaining microsites... You'll also be able to raise questions and issues here... We'll be publicising the days and times for these on here, and through Robbie's e-mails.
If you've got problems, remember you can always come to my surgery (Mondays 12pm - 1pm) and we'll take a look at them... If I can't fix them, then I will be able to take it back for Kitsite to address (but make sure as well that you do send as much feedback and error reporting to Kitisite as you can, as the only way we're going to iron out all the bugs is to work with the system until they appear and we can fix them)
We will still be holding some training sessions for those who want them before the end of term - make sure you come along the boards for the microsite demonstration so we can gauge who would like some more training.

I think we've resolved all the problems with blog posting and publishing on new sites, but send an email to support@kitsite.com if you still have a problem. We've also recently added albums to the photo gallery, due to popular request. We'd like to meet up with students who have been working on microsites to talk about how we can improve what is available - hoping to set up a date for this soon.

Hello, we have missed the presentations. Our IT officer wasn't in London. Will there be anymore? European Society
Stephan H K Vogel, 9:10PM on 12 February 2007
I'd say the best thing to do is let the IT Officer have a go. It was really a grounding in the microsites - it's generally very easy. All the basic instructions are in the http://www.uclunion.org/clubs-societies/setting-up-a-microsite.php page, and you can always contact our web editor for a little extra help...

We are going to host a "Microsites open day" on the afternoon of Wednesday 28 February to collect feedback from people who have been using the microsites and to look at how to improve the service. More details soon.
Kitsite support, 10:13AM on 15 February 2007
There will be a few hours downtime this afternoon (Saturday 17 Feb) for the CMS while we carry out some essential maintenance. This won't affect your microsite except that you won't be able to update it until the work is finished. Hope this doesn't inconvenience anybody!

I was just wondering what happens to the old sites; as in when do they get taken offline? Personally I find the microsites very limiting, hence I have applied in our clubs budget £30 to pay for our own seperate webspace. So if anyone can tell me when the transition period is taking place, that would be good. Cheers
Andrew P Davies, 9:59PM on 8 May 2007
The old sites will be taken offline in June. Have you seen the new microsites? If you want to set one up, just email uclu-webeditor@ucl.ac.uk, stating your club or society's name, and providing the user ID of your web administrator. It has a WYSIWYG content management system in place and is designed to be incredibly user friendly. There's also the bonus that you get support from Kitsite. And it's free! There is also an option to allow coding if you are more web savvy - this might be good for you if you find the old microsites limiting. If you want any more info, you can email me directly on uclu-webeditor@ucl.ac.uk.

I heard a while ago that mailing lists were eventually going to be managed via microsites, so that society emails could be sent to members via microsite control panel. Is this true? I noticed that some sohciety sites have a 'Subscribe' button which as far I've seen doesn't do very much.
Hiteshkumar Tailor, 6:25PM on 30 October 2007
The 'Subscribe' button means subscribing to the blog on the website, which means people should get an email alert when someone posts a blog (You can do this on this site with all the blogs as well). As long as the blog is updated people will get an email around once a week. This is related to the microsites, but will stay separate from your club/society email address or any other mailing list.

Have the oldsites been removed now? Because the badminton (www.badminton.uclu.org) is no longer up!
Andrew P Davies, 4:23PM on 7 January 2008
It looks like the old sites have finally been taken offline. If anyone needs help with looking at other options or microsites email uclu-webeditor@ucl.ac.uk.
