Another blog, another thank you, I look a bit keen this week don't I?!

Time keeps rolling by...
Well, term is nearly over, and I'm sure you're as ready for a holiday as I am! It'll be nice to put the feet up, eat a mince pie, bit of turkey, few roast veg. Drink some mulled wine, probably some wine. Maybe some beer. But maybe that's just me.
Anyway... It'll be nice to have a break and recharge a bit, and then come back ready and raring to go for next term, as there'll be lots going on.
Recently, we've been allocating the slots in the Garage Theatre Workshop for next term, which was a more difficult task than ever before - with the most bids ever received: 21 for 8 slots! We've also begun looking at the Sports Ball, which happens at the end of next term, and reviewing the way sports clubs get hold of their representative kit. Hopefully we'll have some nice leisurewear for you to buy in the not-so-distant future, as well!
Hmm... I do use exclaimation marks too frequently, don't I?
So, what's happening next term? Well, I've already mentioned the Sports Ball, which rewards those who've given their all to their respective Club with a big party at the end of next term. Planning will also soon start for the Social Colours Ball, which rewards anyone who's contributed to the UCL Community. Don't forget that if you know someone who deserves colours (Sports or Social) then they might not get them unless you nominate them, so when the time is right (ie when we publicise it on here) then get a form in. The final part of the UCLU accreditaions are the Arts Awards. They started last year, and some of the usual suspects (Cheese Grater, Stage Crew) were given prizes, but they'll be back too!
On top of that will be the chance to start a new society, bid for a slot in the Bloomsbury and run in the general elections! Amongst all the usual great opportunities that are available around UCLU.
In the very near future though, I'm off to sign some cheques. As a sabbatical officer, I'm automatically a trustee of the Union. What does that mean? Well, one thing is it means I have unlimited liability for the Union! So if something went terribly, terribly wrong, I might have to pay. An upshot of that, is that the sabbs get to sign off all the cheques, just to feel a bit safer that we aren't going to wake up bankrupt!
Well, that was a bright note to end on. I think I might update my profile to explain that I'm a trustee. Then I'm going to go out. Honestly.
