PRESENTATION SKILLS TRAINING – 20TH SEPTEMBER
We are looking for students to take part in their department’s induction programmes for new students, delivering a presentation on volunteering and the VSU. Training in presentation skills is scheduled for the 20th September. We are also recruiting Hall or Student House Volunteer Representatives. CROWLAND PLAYGROUP
Start the day with play? If you are free any morning Crowland Playgroup needs volunteers from September to help out with play sessions. The playgroup runs Monday to Friday from 9.15 am- 11.45, offering high quality, affordable play for children aged 2 plus in the Haringey area. We offer a spacious outdoor playground, sandplay, puzzles, books, singing, stories and creative activities. For further information contact Alison, a.gordon@ucl.ac.uk
ARE YOU FLUENT IN TURKISH, BENGALI OR SOMALIAN?
Centre 404, supports people with learning difficulties and their families. Volunteers with language skills, written & spoken, are needed to facilitate the involvement of parent carers from ethnic minority community groups. The volunteer will help facilitate and interpret at monthly group meetings, help translate information, keep families informed of forthcoming groups via the telephone and by post and support families on a one to one basis as necessary. BAYTREE CENTRE AFTERSCHOOL CLUB
The Baytree Centre, a community centre for women and girls in Brixton, are looking for volunteers to help out with a number of their projects. Could you run or assist with an after-school club? Minimum commitment: 6 weeks …
Art Club for 8-11 yr olds, Tuesdays 3.45-5.30pm - an art club leader and 2 assistants. First 6 week block from 12th September.
Science Club for 8-11 year olds, Wednesdays from 3.45-5.30pm - science club leaders & assistants sought to run varied science projects- an emphasis on hands on experimenting is encouraged. 1st 6 week block from 6th September.
Also required: Duke of Edinburgh Expedition Trainer (Bronze) – once a week, 4.15- 5.30, from 1st November – June.
Volunteers for all roles need to be female. The Baytree are looking to begin the recruitment now so as to ensure volunteers attend proper inductions. For more information please contact a.gordon@ucl.ac.uk
VOLUNTEER AT THE VSU IN 06/07
We're looking for students to find placements for other students next academic year. The work involves interviewing students, finding out about what sort of voluntary work might be suitable, and then finding placements using our access database. If you like chatting to people and are available for half a day per week from the start of October, then why not get in touch? Full induction and training will be provided. COMPUTER MONITORS
The VSU has two computer monitors going spare. They’re four years old, but in perfect working order. They’ll be given to the first people who email us to say they want them. Email John at j.braime@ucl.ac.uk
BSL INTERPRETER NEEDED OCTOBER 13TH
UCL Union require a British Sign Language interpreter for the Welcome General Meeting on Friday, October 13th. You will need to be available for most of the afternoon from 1:30 pm. The work will involve translating items of business and some debate. Please reply asap by email to k.rowley@ucl.ac.uk
