CALLING ALL BUDDING PERFORMERS
Welcome to Soup Entertainment! This is a new project led by UCL students giving students an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of a vulnerable and very appreciative elderly audience. We are looking for anybody and everybody who might be interested in performing. The project runs weekly and involves volunteers running a 15-30 minute session of entertainment for an elderly audience. Performances can include singing, dancing, poetry reading, or anything that moves the soul. You, as a volunteer, are free to create and lead your own session with others, whilst project organisers ensure that all the necessities are in place to help your performance run smoothly! If this sounds like something you are interested in then email us on soupentertainment@gmail.com
There will be an introductory session in mid January, details to follow.

THE MUSIC PROJECT FOR CHILDREN
Do you have...
a zest for music?
the sparkle to inspire children?
lots of energy and a sense of fun?
Then you are what we are looking for!
The Music project is a student led project that runs music activities with children at a weekly after-school club, allowing them to learn about music and try playing musical instruments and singing. The project has been so successful that we have been asked to start music sessions at a second after-school club and so we are looking for lots of new enthusiastic volunteers!
The volunteers will help to run games and fun activities around basic music theory and appreciation, as well as singing sessions and teaching the children to play instruments.
You don’t have to be a great musician – all you need is an interest in music and a willingness to get involved. If you do play an instrument that’s even better!
The sessions will be on Wednesday afternoons starting in January.

FITZROVIA NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE – ADMIN SUPPORT
We’re looking for a volunteer to help provide admin support for our Coordinator. We’re a busy, well used centre which requires assistance with organising the workspace, improving current admin systems and generally improve the working environment. We run an advice service, Good Neighbour Scheme for older people, Bangladeshi Women’s Health project, community forums, a local paper and coordinate a five-a-side pitch .
In addition to the general issues of running a busy centre that provides welfare advice, we are also used as a local ‘amenity’ centre for planning issues both these roles generates a large amount of paperwork. We desperately need to organise our files, archiving that which we need to retain for legal reasons and disposing of what we can. We also need to think creatively about our systems in order that we may prevent becoming over run by paper in the future.
So if you’d like to do some worthwhile volunteering, helping out at a valuable resource for local people, get in touch with John at j.braime@ucl.ac.uk
