Volunteer Management Internship
Toynbee Hall's Internship Programme provides opportunities for local graduates and undergraduates to undertake learning-based volunteer placements, with the aim of helping them prepare for the workplace. The programme is run in partnership with Graduate Forum's Mutual Gains programme and with Way to Work at the London Muslim Centre and is open to any graduate or undergraduate who is London-based and either unemployed or underemployed.
Interns must commit a minimum of 90 hours and will receive at least six hours of training, personal support or one-to-one supervision during this time.

The deadline for applications is Monday 19th March 2007 at midday and interviews will be held the same week on Wednesday 21st March and Friday 23rd March.

EASTER PROJECT VOLUNTEERS FOR KITH AND KIDS
Kith and Kids works with disabled children and young adults and runs a series of projects throughout the year that are all about fun and social development for our members! The Easter Project runs from the 10th – 14th April is five days filled with fun activities such as music, drama, art, cooking, video, massage, sports and much more! All of our members also get a day outing during the project which gives them the opportunity to enjoy a fun activity of their choice such as bowling, going out to lunch, the science museum and so on.
In order for these projects to work, we need lots of volunteers to help our members get involved with these activities and to support them throughout!
For all potential volunteers there are three training days that they will need to attend, which will provide complete training on all the areas involved with volunteering at Kith and Kids. The training days are as follows:
Sundays 18th, 25th March and 1st April or;
Saturday 24th, Sundays 25th March and 1st April
All the training will take place at the Keston Centre which is on Keston Road in Tottenham, N17 6PW and the days all are 10.00am – 4.30pm. We cannot guarantee anybody a volunteer position until we have met them at the training days!

FC UNITY – THE GLOBAL FOOTBALL PROJECT
FC Unity is looking for a group of young and dynamic students to work as volunteers in the England programme of the project, based in London. They will be able to help manage and run the events as well as become stake-holders.
With ongoing conflicts around the world, threatening more religious, racial and ethnic divides, FC Unity aims to transcend ethnic, religious, cultural and political differences. Using the uniting force of The Beautiful Game it will promote peaceful and united communities around the world and aim to bring people together.
FC Unity is a unique global awareness raising and development program. It brings together young people from various religious, ethnic and social backgrounds through football to overcome their differences and learn to work as teams and create youth leaders.

STUDENT EVENTS MANAGER FOR ACTION AID
ActionAid is a unique partnership of people who are fighting for a world without poverty, in which every person can exercise their right to a life of dignity. We work with poor and marginalised people to help eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustice and inequity that cause it.
The role of Student Events Manager will involve spreading the word about ActionAid by organising fundraising and campaigning events on your university campus or in your university town. You will organise a series of events over the academic year. This could be in the form of one large event or three or four smaller ones. We will provide you with a fundraising pack with some event ideas to get you started. The role is ongoing throughout the next academic year, either starting right away or in September 2007.
In return for taking up this role we will offer you an induction at our head office in London, priority for volunteering opportunities that arise within our fundraising events team, the chance to apply for internal job vacancies at ActionAid and much more! This role will give you the opportunity to learn much more about ActionAid's work and if you are looking for a career in event management, marketing, fundraising or PR this could be just the stepping stone you need!

EASTER REVISION SESSIONS AT ST. CLEMENTS & ST. JAMES
St. Clements and St. James Community Development Project is a successful after school club and mentoring project in West london (nearest tube: Latimer Road). Our Easter revision sessions are extremely popular (last year we had 100 children come through the doors!) and the young people who come really enjoy talking to and learning from university students. We would like to invite any students who have some free time during the Easter Holidays to sign up to volunteer on this hugely beneficial project, to tutor and mentor local young people in year nine and above, whilst they revise for their upcoming exams. Last year we had an average of four different students every day and we would like to extend this number even further. All money will go to the charity Tender, which is an organisation for the
prevention of violence to women and girls. Tender aims to reduce the level of
domestic violence, wherever and whenever it may happen, by talking about it,
raising awareness and changing attitudes through cultural events and
educational projects.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION MARSHALLS NEEDED
HYDE PARK 4TH APRIL
The British Heart Foundation the nations heart charity are launching a brand new jog in London’s Hyde Park. The Jog is open to all and the event is all about raising much needed funds for those people suffering from heart and circulatory disease.
The BHF needs you to give your time and help out on the day as a route marshall on either the 5km or 10km route within the park.
You will need a mobile phone, a warm jumper, waterproof and the ability to direct joggers where required. Volunteers will need to be at the band stand in Serpentine Road within Hyde Park no later than 4pm and we will stand all marshall down at 8pm latest.

Would you like help in identifying how you can develop new skills and improve your CV?
Would you like an award from UCL officially recognising the skills you’ve developed whilst volunteering?
If so, UCL’s Volunteering Personal Development Award could be for you. To get the full Gold Award you’ll need to complete 50 hours of volunteering in a year and complete a portfolio of short reflective assignments. However, there are intermediary stages of Bronze and Silver.
We’re running our next training session on WEDNESDAY 21ST MARCH FROM 1PM – 5.00PM (lunch provided). The session will cover learning styles and personal development planning. If you’ve already done 30 hours of volunteering this year, by the end of the afternoon you’ll have got the VPDA Bronze Award. We’ll also explain what you need to do to get silver and gold. And don’t worry if you’ve not started volunteering – we can help put you on track for that during the session too.
One of our VPDA alumni is Manpreet Saherney, who volunteered at a night shelter for homeless people. She says: “The VPDA Scheme allowed me to reflect back on my experiences at the shelter and focused on my needs as a volunteer. Through regular meetings I was able to identify and develop my skills and training needs not just as a shelter volunteer but also as a student. This helped me to get more out of the volunteering experience.”

Over the coming few months there are some exciting opportunities for local volunteers to obtain valuable qualifications and gain experience in sports coaching.
The Hub Sports Project in Regent's Park is currently seeking people between the age of 18 & 25 to join The Hub Volunteer Programme to help us deliver our Multi Sports Activities for Children (school holidays) .
We’ll train you up with a Community Sports Leaders award (taking place over two weekends - 24&25/03 and 31/03 & 01/04). In return, all we ask for is at least 10 hours volunteering on our school holidays sports coaching programme.
