PROJECT LEADERS WANTED- CLUBS 2 COMMUNITIES PROJECT
Would you like to be a part of an exciting new student led project at UCL? The Clubs-2-Community Project promotes volunteering amongst clubs and societies. The main aims are to help find volunteering opportunities specifically targeting clubs' and societies' unique interests and skills, provide advice for clubs and societies looking to set up their own volunteering project, and create a comprehensive record of clubs' and societies' contribution to volunteering.

Working in a small team, you will be liaising frequently with representatives from clubs and societies, so this is a perfect opportunity to meet other students, gain a better awareness of clubs and societies at UCL and make a real impact!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO PAINT PARTS OF THEATRE!
Are you looking for something fun to do for a few hours in July? Why not help Theatro Technis paint the railings and other bits of the front of their building! This will be in preparation for an event starting on 15 July, so they will find a date before then that suits the volunteers. The theatre is located close to Mornington Crescent.

VOLUNTEER AT BRITISH POSTAL MUSEUM OPEN DAYS
On Friday 27 and Saturday 28 July, the British Postal Museum & Archive (BPMA) will be holding a FREE family fun day at their Museum Store in Debden, Essex. The BPMA is the leading source on postal history and this event will involve a series of workshops and activities taking emphasis from weird and wonderful objects from the museum collection and The Royal Mail Archive.

The day will be an exciting opportunity for keen volunteers to get experience of educational work within a museum. We are looking for someone to help run a range of activities from a Postman Pat Treasure Trail to printmaking, face-painting, colouring-in, tours and talks. TLC - INTERNSHIPS
Wanted:- bright, quick thinking interns to help put together funding bids for a variety of posts in thriving care organisation.

This is a key opportunity to experience how funds are raised and bids put together to series of funders, including (potentially) the National Lottery.

At least one afternoon a week’s commitment required. PC literacy essential, a head for figures and eye for layout helps too!

You’ll receive induction, supervision, expenses and a guaranteed reference when you move on.

WEB SITE VOLUNTEER NEEDED!
HealthProm works with partners in Eastern Europe and Central Asia to improve healthcare for vulnerable groups. They provide healthcare projects in the field of Safe Childbirth, Child Mental Health and Infection Control. UK healthcare professionals work with local healthcare professionals and NGOs to deliver sustainable improvements in the care of pregnant mothers and their babies and children and young people with mental health problems. We’re on the lookout for a website volunteer:
- To advise and where necessary, research liaising with HealthProm’s IT support, on technical matters relating to the website
- To research web-based initiatives such as banner advertising, donation processing and volunteer resources
- To set up, maintain and generate reports through web statistical analysis functions
- To liaise with translators and HealthProm staff to set up the Russian section of the HealthProm site
- To work with the Manager to develop HealthProm’s e-bulletin
- To work with the HealthProm team to develop the website resources of the organisation in the most cost-effective and efficient manner

WANT A CAREER IN JOURNALISM, PRESS AND PR OR MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS?
Think you could create an audio blog, contribute to a photo exhibition or film a short documentary? If so, read on…

Toynbee Hall’s v team are currently looking for motivated young people to join our Media and Communications Youth Action Team. As a member of the team, you’ll be offered guidance and training from experienced professionals in the fields of journalism, press and PR and multimedia communications. In return we’ll be asking you to put your skills into practice by volunteering to help Toynbee Hall to publicise our valuable work. You’ll have lots of say in when, where and how you volunteer and we’ll offer you support and guidance along the way.

We are currently looking for young people (16-25 yrs old) with an interest and, preferably some skills in photography, sonic media, journalism, film making and or press/PR. Creativity, good communication skills and a real commitment to the project are a must! Much of the work will be focused on Toynbee Hall’s Young People and Families team so an interest in working with young people will be a bonus.

Minimum time commitment will be around 2 hours per fortnight though hours are flexible. Most of the volunteering will be based at Toynbee Hall in London, E1. Volunteering expenses will be reimbursed and you will be credited for all printed photographs.

VOLUNTEER FUNDRAISING CO-ORDINATOR – CCHF LONDON OFFICE
We currently require the services of a part-time fundraising volunteer to work in our London Office, co-ordinating our new “Jump for Joy” Parachuting Programme and our College and University Networking Project. Both of these assignments are a new development for our charity and the volunteer co-ordinator would work with the Community Fundraising Manager and be tasked with aspects of:

- Research and Outreach to potentially interested companies, groups and organisations
- Presentations, PR & marketing
- Event management and co-ordination
- Ensure all donors are thanked immediately and a regular “support relationship” is maintained
- Ensure the database is constantly updated

This position will provide valuable experience for those people interested in pursuing a career in PR, Marketing or Event Management. A Criminal Records Bureau check will be required in keeping with current Child Protection legislation.

FITZROVIA YOUTH IN ACTION - VOLUNTEER DRUGS AND ALCOHOL OUTREACH PROJECT

The objective of the 'Volunteer Drugs and Alcohol Outreach Project' is to recruit 35 young people (16-24 yrs) and provide them with training and support to run one-off awareness campaigns around drug and alcohol use. The awareness campaigns would be fun events such as barbeques, mini football tournament and similar innovative gatherings to reach as many local youth as possible and to educate and to inform them about drugs and alcohol.

FYA is looking for five UCL students who would support these young people and help them realize their projects. They would be in charge of overseeing the planning and delivery of these campaigns, and support volunteers in making a video and leaflet which can be used for recruitment of future volunteers for youth-led drug and alcohol projects. The five volunteers would also have to make a film about their own progress, the experiences gained and difficulties encountered to show other students about their personal development through this project. The five students would have to meet up on a weekly basis for three hours here at FYA, however a few additional hours might be required as well, to carry out the arranged tasks and go to the events organized by the young people.

ASPIRE
The v team at Toynbee Hall are looking for committed young people to take part in a fantastic and innovative project called Aspire.

The Aspire Project will engage 50 young people, classified as Excluded within school, on a year long programme of activities aimed at building their aspirations, raising their self esteem and confidence in accessing the curriculum and ultimately helping them to reach their potential. The Volunteer Coaches will play a vital role in guiding the young people through the course of the project helping them to engage with and get the most out of the project activities and providing practical support around areas such as learning and study skills where necessary/appropriate.

We are currently looking for young people (18-25 yrs old) who have experience of working with young people. You will need to be understanding and creative to keep the young people engaged. You will have excellent communication skills and you will also need a lot of commitment.

You will need to be available twice a month to and will need to be available during school hours.

SWAHILI SPEAKING VOLUNTEER NEEDED!
Bedford House Good Neighbourhood scheme is looking for a bi-lingual Swahili/English speaking volunteer to do some typing for an elderly gentleman. He used to be a research assistant and has had one of his books published. He is eighty years old and it would mean a lot to him to be able finish his work. Good keyboard skills essential. VOLUNTEER FOR THE INSTITUTE OF CANCER RESEARCH
This is an exciting opportunity to join the fundraising team at The Institute of Cancer Research, one of the world’s leading cancer research charities, at one of the most important times in its history. The successful candidate will join a department which has recently developed a regular giving initiative, Let’s Celebrate, and which will offer him/her the chance to contribute to an increasingly important source of income for a world-class cancer charity.

Let’s Celebrate is an exciting new fundraising initiative that we hope will encourage people to support our much needed cancer research. The idea behind this scheme is a simple one – get some friends, relatives and colleagues together, have a good time and raise money for The Institute or its male cancer campaign, Everyman.

The deadline for applications is Friday 6 July. Interviews in the second half of July. This role runs from late July to September.

THE CALTHORPE PROJECT
The Calthorpe is a vibrant community centre situated in an acre of gardens in Kings Cross- it was established 25 years ago by local people who reclaimed the land as their own.....

We have a diverse range of activities and volunteering potential. We are particularly keen to invite some volunteers with good graphic design skills to help layout a newsletter and several leaflets that are in production, as well as students with web-design skills. We have many opportunities in the garden for those with environmental interests and we would welcome any volunteers wanting to do small scale projects around sustainability......We have many opportunities for anyone who wants to balance being in the urban environment - by doing some gardening - no experience required- we can teach basic gardening skills! There is a lot of opportunity for students who would like to volunteer on the summer playscheme- we run sports and arts based activities through the summer for 5-14 year olds and go on lots of trips- so come on down!!! CAPITALISE
Capitalise is a London-wide partnership that aims to reduce debt and financial exclusion by improving peoples’ capacity to manage their debts, enabling them to take more control over their finances and make informed choices in the future.

The Capitalise partnership delivers services that meet the advice needs of financially excluded Londoners and promotes best practice and shapes national policy to provide a cost-effective, quality service to the public.

Capitalise is led by Toynbee Hall, Blackfriars Advice Centre, and the Mary Ward Legal Centre, and involves a wide range of other partners aiming to tackle debt and financial exclusion.

The partnership was recently successful in gaining funding from the Governments Financial Inclusion Fund to run a 5.3m London-wide debt and money advice programme, which will enable the partnership to employ 58 money advisers across London.

We would like a volunteer to help the team with general administrative duties. There will also be opportunities to access relevant training with regards to debt advice and also to volunteer on the debt advice sessions.

This will be an excellent opportunity for someone to test out a career and see if they would enjoy it and it would be invaluable experience for someone looking to get in to this field.

VOLUNTEER WITH ACTION DISABILITY KENSINGTON AND CHELSEA
We have a range of volunteering vacancies at the moment:

Swimming: Nada is a lovely blind woman who would like assistance to go swimming once a week. She is very independent and just needs you to swim alongside her. Swimming with Nada is great fun and all expenses are paid. Time: anytime in the week to suit the volunteer.

Correspondence and Accounts: An elderly gentleman in West Kensington would like help opening his mail and some help with his accounts. A kind volunteer is needed once a week or fortnight. Time: any day to suit the volunteer, daytime.

Web search: Niama is a blind woman who needs occasional assistance to the library to check her emails. This is great guiding experience. Time: mornings or afternoons any day.

Gardening: Local Disabled people in Kensington & Chelsea need assistance with their gardens. Are you up for some out door work? Tools and support provided. Time: anytime to suit eth volunteer.

The Civic Trust Awards are the largest and most comprehensive environmental design awards scheme in Europe. The scheme has been
established for 48 years, during which time it has become highly respected for recognising architecture and environmental design that makes an exceptional contribution to our built environment. The aim of the Awards is to encourage the very best in our built environment, improving it for us all.
