++VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITIES WITH MÉDECINS DU MONDE UK++
Médecins du Monde is an international medical humanitarian non-governmental organisation (NGO) that provides healthcare for the most vulnerable people around the world, including victims of poverty, famine, disease, disaster and war. As well as providing healthcare, Médecins du Monde bears witness to obstacles to healthcare as well as other human rights abuses, giving a voice to people whose stories would not otherwise be heard.
Médecins du Monde UK was established in 1998, to contribute to this world-wide network. In 2006, Médecins du Monde UK opened a free medical clinic in London, called Project:London, aimed at helping the UK’s most vulnerable to access healthcare. Project:London is a completely free and confidential service to provide information and support to help people reach mainstream health services. We also provide some basic healthcare and advocate on behalf of people, such as vulnerable migrants, homeless people and vulnerable women, who have problems accessing healthcare.
The clinic is only able to function effectively through the help of volunteers. Therefore, we are always recruiting medical and non-medical volunteers to help in the clinic or provide us with their language skills from outside of the clinic setting.
If you are interested in volunteering for this organisation, then please contact marlon.brown@ucl.ac.uk for more information.
