++VOLUNTEERS URGENTLY NEEDED++
THE HOMELESS PROJECT

The Homeless Project aims to raise awareness of the situation of the homeless in London and make a positive impact on their lives. We visit The American Church, a soup kitchen on Tottenham Court Road, once a week and interact with the guests to increase socialisation between students and the homeless. We also work out specific problems the guests may be encountering and help them with practical solutions: referring them on to other relevant agencies, informing them about services available to them in the area, writing formal letters, making phone calls etc.

We require 2 enthusiastic volunteers to join our team and make a small regular time commitment once a week and help us with these duties. No previous experience working with the homeless is necessary as we provide you with extensive training, but applicants will need to be available at Thursday lunchtimes, from 11am-1pm, as this is when we run our sessions.

If you are interested in participating please email us at aekta.jain@ucl.ac.uk, remembering to include your name, email address, department, year of study, availability and a brief description of why you would like to be involved in the project. Please contact us before Friday 2nd November.

++VOLUNTEER COACHES AND SESSION LEADERS NEEDED++
KEEN LONDON

KEEN London is a charity providing sporting and recreational activities for children with special needs and their siblings in the London area. Each volunteer coach is assigned one athlete for a session. As a coach, your job is to enable your athlete to take part in the activities and have a great time. Every activity is lead by an experienced coach who will be happy to lend a hand where its is needed.

After the athletes have gone home to their parents, volunteers have a debrief over some food and drink. You don't need to be very sporty or have experience with children, as training and support will be provided.

There will be an information session at UCL on Tuesday 30 Oct at 6pm in 114 Foster Court. Please come along to find out more from Keen staff!
