Safe Exit works on a range of issues around prostitution and has recently released research on the demand for prostitution. The focus of this volunteer position is to organise a round-table event for agencies interested in developing work to tackle the demand for prostitution, to take place in November 2007.
There is also opportunity for the volunteer to have wider involvement in other aspects of Safe Exit’s work.

UCL SPECIAL COLLECTIONS DEPARTMENT
The Special Collections department of UCL Library Services is looking for volunteers to help in the cleaning and boxing programme now underway for its renowned collections of rare books and archives, some are over one thousand years old!
The programme of cleaning is in preparation for the collections move to the Institute for Cultural Heritage planned for completion in 2010. Training in specialist handling of rear books and archives, cleaning procedures, and making custom-made boxes is given.
During the summer, we were fortunate to have had the assistance of a number of volunteers from the US, Canada, Spain, and the UK, but with such large collections to clean and box more are needed. So if you have an interest in the past and/or like making things, please contact us.

COULD YOU HELP US PROMOTE VOLUNTEERING THROUGH UCL UNIONS RADIO AND TV MEDIA?
This year as part of the re-branded VSU Marketing Team, we would like to spread the word of volunteering through the community programmes being run by the Union s Rare FM and through a little documentary to be filmed by the Film and Tv Society.
However, we need your help! You don t need to have any experience as training will be given. We need students who are enthusiastic about volunteering and want to promote this to others. You could help with one or more of the following: interviews, come up with ideas, liaise between the various groups involved, help with the use of equipment, do background research into stories and much, much more.

We are the current project leaders for the Language Skills Pool at UCL, which is part of the UCLU Voluntary Services Unit. This Innovation Programme supports local community organisations by volunteers translating flyers and posters etc. into various different languages.

Do you have an interest in party decorating? Do you like making simple decorations? Then why not become part of the new VSU Party Decorations Team?
You will receive a basic training session at UCL Union for inspiration and then you can sign up to the events that suit your schedule! Events will include Christmas Parties for different service users (elderly people, children with terminal illnesses, etc) and there is no ongoing commitment required – you can do as much or as little as you like! Decorations and / or materials will be provided by the organisations and travel costs covered by the VSU.

Are you creative? Like painting? Then sign up to the new VSU Mural Volunteer Team!
You will receive a basic training session in mural design and then you can sign up to the mural paintings that suit your schedule! Organisations will include local schools and charities, who will greatly appreciate your effort to brighten up their walls!
There is no ongoing commitment required – you can do as much or as little as you like! Paints and brushes will be provided by the organisations and travel costs and protective gear covered by the VSU.

IntoUniversity
Be an IntoUniversity mentor!
Would you like to make a real difference to a young person by helping them on their way to reach their potential? Be an IntoUniversity mentor and share your success with an aspiring young person aged between 10 and 18. You will receive training and preparation before being matched with your own mentee.
You will then be expected to meet on a twice monthly basis at both one-to-one individual meetings and group events (excluding holiday/exam periods). You can meet together at our IntoUniversity centre weekdays 4-6pm and if you are mentoring an older student you can work towards off-site meetings too. Balancing academic and social activities you might be talking through a school project/ piece of coursework and then playing board games or cooking something up in the kitchen.
Our next group event will be T-Shirt Design and pairs are also contributing to their own Mentoring Newsletter. You will receive support from mentoring staff throughout as you focus your mentee on achieving agreed targets for development. Minimum commitment of 1 academic year. Come along and get involved!
You just need to sign up to one Training and Selection Day on either Saturday 17th or 24th November or Saturday 1st December.

London's Air Ambulance provides crucial pre-hospital care to victims of 'major trauma' (defined as severe or life-threatening injury to the brain or spine, penetrating injuries, fractures or burns) throughout London. It is relied upon by all 10 million people who live, work, or commute into London at any one time yet it is a charity. We need students to help us raise the funds necessary to continue this service.
If you are able to spare a few hours to help with one of our many charity collections your help would be much appreciated! We can pay expenses and students are paid generously according to how much they raise. We have many exciting venues to choose from such as Camden Market and the MPH show in Earls Court.

Charity Pantomime Event Promotion and Bucket Collection
We urgently require volunteers to help us promote our forthcoming Charity Pantomime Event (UCL students are already involved at the event) and also do some bucket collecting in Brent Cross Shopping Centre. Volunteer will be asked to undertake a 3-4 hour shift as part of a team to ensure maximum coverage throughout the Centre.

- A two day training session covering issues such as child protection, planning and delivering projects and evaluation 15th & 16th November
- A twenty hour placement delivering projects in the school, including at least one session shadowing a teacher (January – March)
- A six hour workshop, devised by the ACE creative coach, in the placement school (December)
- Completion of a satisfactory session and planning sheets, as per co-ordinator.
