++VOLUNTEERS AND POSSIBLE PROJECT LEADERS REQUIRED++
VSU Innovation Programme – Teddy Bear Clinic Project The project is now in it’s fifth year and is run mainly by medical and other science based students, but it also involves others with a keen interest in this area.
It works with children aged four – seven years in local schools for up to an hour a week capturing their interests using teddy bears, toy medical kits and scrubs.
The project teaches the values of healthy living and a healthy lifestyle. The schools are in the Islington area where approximately 8 volunteers per class work with small groups of children on various different activities. Additional schools maybe worked with this term.
Project leaders devise and disseminate information from their highly creative session plans. The sessions involve different activities such as exercise, learning about healthy eating and the organs of the body, also how to look after yourself, role-playing and so on.
Full child protection training will be provided to all participants. This will provisionally take place on Thurs 31 Jan between 1 and 4pm. This will be confirmed nearer the time.
So if you’re interested in volunteering or possibly being called on to be one of the four project leaders - project leaders must have previously volunteered on the project - then please contact: Dee Davis d.davis@ucl.ac.uk or visit the stall at the Mini Volunteering Fair which is taking place on Thurs 17 Jan 07, 11 am -3 pm in the South Cloisters.

++NEW PROJECT LOOKING FOR CO-LEADERS++
Interfaith Pilgrimage for Schools
The UCLU Interfaith Society last year organised a pilgrimage around London, visiting a few places of worship for different faith communities. The activity was enjoyed and valued by the UCL students who attended, but many felt the project should be offered to local school children.
We need help to organise such a project. We are looking for 2 people who can co-lead the project, helping to correspond with local schools and share responsibilities.
If you feel like this is something you would like to be part of and take a lead role in the formation and running of this project then please get in touch with me via email on zcbcb26@ucl.ac.uk
Kind Regards
Matthew Huish
