This is a new student led project to get young girls from ethnic minorities into tennis, this activity will build confidence, comradie and a healthy lifestyle amongst these young ladies.

++ONE WORLD WEEK VOLUNTEERS NEEDED++
Interested in Volunteering as part of One World Week?
The aim of One World Week is to offer 'insight and inspiration' from the diverse experiences of the UCL community related to wide ranging themes of culture and religion, sexuality and gender, disability and the environment.
It has been organised by UCL union, its clubs and societies and UCL departments. A programme of over 30 events has been planned with a broad spectrum of sessions including, interactive theatre on climate change, Latinolicious One World Party, Cultural Writing events and much more. We need volunteers to help with the following activities:
- helping with the staffing of the One World Week Stall in the foyer of the Union 4-8 February
- distributing flyers around campus from 24/1/08 onwards (available for collection from the fourth floor of 25 Gordon St)
- helping out at the One World Fayre Wednesday 6th February setting up, promoting, staffing stalls

++ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT MEMBER++
ISLINGTON WITNESS SERVICE
1. Receive details of victims/witnesses and their associates referred to the service and to make contact with an offer of support at home and or in the court building in accordance with The Witness Service and Homes for Islington policy.
2. Provide victim/witnesses and their associates with support, advice and information to assist them with the practical and emotional impact of attending court and giving evidence. This may involve:
Providing basic information on court procedures and court layout.
Informing volunteers and Witness Service staff of witnesses' arrivals.
Directing witnesses and victims to appropriate court or waiting room.
Liasing with other agencies within the court building.
Acompanying victim/witnesses to waiting rooms, or to staff and volunteers.
Assist in general administrative duties e.g. data entry, filing and photocopying.
* Referring the victims/witnesses on to their local Victim Support Scheme or other agency.
3. Provide The Witness Service Co-ordinator and Homes for Islingotn staff with a report of all work undertaken with or on behalf of all victims and witnesses. To assist the Co-ordinator in providing information for reports for statistical and monitoring purposes.
4. Attend volunteers' meetings, training events, supervision sessions and an annual appraisal in accordance with WS, IVSS and Homes for Islington policy and practice.
5. Ensure that your Co-oridnator is aware of your availability giving reasonable notice of your holidays.
6. Submit claims for travelling and other expenses in accordance with the service policy (providng receipts).
7. Elect a volunteers' representative to the Steering Committee where it is in existence.

London’s Air Ambulance provides crucial pre-hospital care to victims of major trauma throughout London. It is relied upon byall 10 million people who live, work, or commute into London at any one time yet it is a charity. We need volunteers to help us raise the funds necessary to continue this service. If you are able to spare a few hours to help with one of our many charity collections your help would be much appreciated!

++CONSERVATION EVENT AT GROUNDWORK WEST LONDON++
Groundwork West London

Volunteers needed to help with vegetation management and other nature conservation tasks in Little Wormwood Scrubs Park. This is an excellent opportunity for volunteers to get
their 'hands dirty' in real nature conservation whilst meeting volunteers from other London Universities. Groundwork West London will provide instructions and supervision of volunteers on the day. Tools and gloves will be provided, and a qualified first aider will be present at all times.

CREAM TEA PARTY AT NOTTING HILL HOUSING TRUST
Wednesday 6 Feb 2008: 2pm-5pm
How do you fancy volunteering for half a day with some of our most vulnerable elderly tenants? We want your help to host a Cream Tea Party which will bring together 3 of our sheltered housing schemes. These people are very often isolated and rarely get the chance to meet people from different schemes let alone students from a local university. On the day we thought we could play games, eat cakes and scones, drink tea and socialise with one another.
It is guaranteed to be a fun day for all the volunteers who choose to take part and will be a very meaningful activity for the tenants, some of whom have very few family or friends left. Social activities are very important in enhancing the quality of life of our elderly tenants and we want friendly and chatty.

Can you spare a few hours per week for three months or devote a block amount of time to help Volunteer Centre Hackney say to Hackney residents, the Local Authority, the PCT/NHS that developing volunteering projects in the Borough’s various hospitals will benefit the Local Authority, the PCT/NHS, local residents, patients and the community as a whole?
We at Volunteer Centre Hackney are looking for virtual volunteers who can research the benefits of hospital volunteering for us to communicate to various stakeholders – i.e. patients, the volunteers themselves, the local authority, the PCT/NHS, hospital staff and the community as a whole. The volunteer researcher will identify kinds of volunteering roles that can be undertaken in hospitals.

WALK THE WALK
Walk the Walk needs a strong team of volunteers to help run the MoonWalk and support 15,000 women and men as they complete a Power Walking marathon raising money and awareness for vital breast cancer causes.
Duties include registering volunteers, handing out hot food and water, giving out medals and goody bags, marshalling the route, driving support cars, cycling and generally being enthusiastic and supportive.

++PUBLICITY HELPER VOLUNTEER NEEDED URGENTLY++
POLYCYSTIC KIDNEY DISEASE CHARITY
We are the only charity in the UK dedicated to the concerns of people affected by Polycystic Kidney Disease - a range of inherited, incurable renal condictions. We aim to provide information, advice and support to those affected by the disease, fund research into determining the causes of PKD and raise awareness of the disease. We are looking for volunteers to help publicise PKD and our charity to the press!
There is an poortunity to write press releases and work on a publicity campaign. In particular, we will be planning an event on World Kidney Day, 13 March 2008. You can do the volunteer work frm UCL premises or you home, after the initial briefing from the charity chairman.
