++STUDENT PROJECT LEADER ON RARE FM++
Tune into Rare FM to Hear From One of Our Student Project Leader
Hey people! Please tune into Rare FM on Wednesday 12 March at 3pm, to the Societies Show on 87.7 FM or go to http://www.rarefm.co.uk to hear about the Girls Just Wanna Play Tennis VSU Innovations Programme - Student Led Project. The project wishes to create a positive change in young people's lives, by giving them the opportunity to get involved in tennis.
We wish to provide a platform for young people to become accomplished tennis players. We particularly want to get young girls from ethnic minorities involved as they are very under represented in the sport. Participating in the project helps promote the development of skills, self esteem and encourages them to engage positively with the community. Hopefully in the future these girls or anyone can branch out and be role models to younger girls and other people.
So listen in at 3pm this Wednesday 12th to hear more about the project and what skills I've gained from being involved in it and also listen to interviews done with the young people who have taken part in the project.

++EVENT THAT MAY BE OF INTEREST!!!++
Event: 'Public Inconvenience: The Politics of Toilets in India'
Tuesday 11 March 2008
4.30-6pm
Gustave Tuck Lecture Theatre, Main Building (N and S Junctions) Followed by drinks. All are welcome - including all UCL students - and there is no need to book.
This event, organised by the Institute for Global Health - will explore the politics of toilets in Mumbai and Pune, India - and the implications for global health, community development and the built environment.
How communities are able to organise and make decisions about the design, construction and maintenance of appropriate toilet facilities - and to build community health and social responses around them - has relevance for anthropology, sociology, political science, engineering, law, biomedicine and, indeed, most of the disciplines represented at UCL. The capacity to have adequate health and sanitation is a basic requirement for dignified healthy human existence.

Panel members discussing the broader implications of these issues will be:
Professor Anthony Costello (UCL Centre for International Health & Development and UCL IGH), Dr David Satterthwaite (UCL Developing Planning Unit and International Institute for Environment & Development), Dr David Osrin (UCL Institute of Child Health), Mekhala Krishnamurthy (UCL Anthropology) and Professor Matthew Gandy (UCL Urban Laboratory).
