++PRESERVATION VOLUNTEER++
UCL LIBRARY SERVICES – SPECIAL COLLECTIONS

The Special Collections department of UCL Library Services is looking for volunteers to help in the cleaning and boxing programme now underway for its renowned collections of rare books and archives, some of which are over 2000 years old.

The programme of cleaning is in preparation for the collections’ move to the Institute for Cultural Heritage planned for completion in 2010 (visit: http://www.ucl.ac.uk/ifch/ for details). Training in specialist handling of rear books and archives, cleaning procedures, making custom made boxes and using a digital camera will be offered.

During last summer we were fortunate to have had the assistance of a number of volunteers from the US, Canada, Spain and the UK, but with such large collections to deal with and photograph more volunteers are needed.
