Throughout the year the VSU organises a range of one-off events - so even if you can't make a regular commitment, there's still a chance to get involved.

All students who participate in a one-off event will be reimbursed for travel expenses and recieve a certificate of recognition from the Volunteering Services Unit.

Please note that our volunteering vacancies are only open to UCL students and staff.

To register for any event, email Fiona Addison at f.addison@ucl.ac.uk

British Transport Police
Community Involvement Day
Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th September 2010
9.30am to 4.00pm
Euston train station

Volunteers are needed to help prepare new police recruits for life on the beat! Our police recruits are coming to the end of their training, but after spending the last few months learning in classrooms they need to put the theory into practice.

We need volunteers to take part in realistic role plays at Euston train station to see how officers will react and assist them with their learning. There are a variety of situations you could find yourself in, both acting as the suspect and victim. Scenarios include a ticket dispute, stop and search or a burglary. We’re certainly not looking for Oscar winning performances so no previous acting is required, just enthusiasm to enable the officers to get the most from the role play.

You will be fully briefed about your roles at the start of the session and people will be on hand to guide and support you. This is an ideal opportunity to find out more about the role of a police officer, meet new people and hopefully have fun.

If you are interested please email Fiona at f.addison@ucl.ac.uk
