British Red Cross
The British Red Cross helps people in crisis, whoever and wherever they are. We are part of a global voluntary network, responding to conflicts, natural disasters and individual emergencies. We enable vulnerable people in the UK and abroad to prepare for and withstand emergencies in their own communities.
Main Activity
The British Red Cross provides First Aid, Ambulance Aid and Befriending to events and incidents in the London Area. There are opportunities to work in Emergency Planning, emergency response and public event first aid cover. There are also volunteering opportunities in office and project support, medical equipment loan service, tracing and messaging, care in the home, refugee unit and therapeutic care services.
Description
The British Red Cross is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, the world's largest independent humanitarian organisation. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the British Red Cross. Every volunteer activity is as equally valuable and for every front-line volunteer providing help, there is another volunteer co-ordinating and supporting service delivery.
Volunteers have the opportunity to work in a variety of our service areas, from assisting in the delivery of our medical equipment loan service, providing first aid cover at public events, responding to emergencies, supporting individuals in their own homes following an illness or stay in hospital, supporting refugees through our refugee services, as well as fund-raising and office support.
Many volunteers give up their time on a regular basis while others help out occasionally whenever they have the time. Whatever option is chosen, will make a difference to someone's life.
