Childrens Country Holidays Fund
Children’s Country Holidays Fund (CCHF) is a registered national charity, founded in 1884. It exists to give severely disadvantaged children from London and the surrounding areas a range of holidays and respite breaks to help improve the quality of their lives, recognise their potential and achieve their personal goals in the safest possible environment.
Main Activity
The children we help come from backgrounds of extreme poverty, social exclusion, homelessness, parental ill-health, disability, abuse or bereavement. They are from severely deprived areas of London where they often live in inadequate housing, where their natural play areas are surrounded by violence, crime or drugs. A child growing up in any of these stressful circumstances rarely gets the chance to just be a child, free from worry and pressure. Our Focused Development Breaks will help improve their quality of life, build respect, confidence and self belief. We’ll help them recognise their potential in the safest possible environment. Our holidays encourage children to enjoy the thrills and excitement of a summer holiday break or specialised weekend away from their normal daily routine.
Description
We are currently recruiting volunteers to become Holiday Supervisors involved with our Summer Holidays and Specialised Weekend Breaks. All our holidays are residential and require our volunteers to be free for period of 5 days for summer and mid-term holidays and weekends for the specialised focused development breaks.
We are also recruiting PR / Marketing and Events Volunteers to be involved in the planning, organisation and implementing of a programme of events leading to our 125th Anniversary Year in 2009. This volunteering opportunity would give invaluable experience for those undergraduates intending to work in a events, marketing and business environment.
