Crossroads Women's Centre
Centre is run by charity Women in Dialogue. To provide base for a numbe rof women's groups including: Black Women's Rape Action Project; Global Women's Strike; International Prostitutes Collective, Legal Action for Women; Single Mothers Self Defence; Wages Due Lesbians; WinVisible - Women with Visible and Invisible Disabilities; Women of Colour in the Global Women's Strike and Women Against Rape. Also Payday, a network of men who work with the Centre's groups.
Main Activity
The groups using the Centre highlight the needs and concerns of grassroots women, including pressing for justice for rape survivors including those who are seeking asylum. To this end all the groups need help with administrative, campaigning, research and creative tasks. The organisations at the Centre have their own policies, consistent with Women in Dialogue's. The Centre hosts public events such as video cafes, exhibitions, meetings and more. There are frequent international visitors from other organisations.
Description
Crossroads Women's Centre is a lively, welcoming, anti-racist, anti-sexist home of a number of women's groups. It is a place where you can work with other women from a wide rage of backgrounds, ages, races & nationalities. We are always looking for new volunteers. Opportunities for activities you can help with include: computer work, internet research, filing, photocopying, outreach, banner-making, exhibitions, and helping to organise events. Groups at the Centre work on a wide range of women's issues from immigration to the rights of single mums to pressing for justice for rape suurvivors.We host frequent public events at the Centre such as video cafes, exhibitions and more. There are frequent international visitors from both Third World and industrial countries, especially from other women's organisations.
