HealthProm is the UK's leading charity working to improve healthcare for vulnerable groups in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. UK healthcare specialists work with partner professionals in NGOs and regional health administrations in Azerbaijan, Russia and other parts of the former Soviet Union to reduce rates of infant and maternal mortality, improve services to women and their babies. HealthProm works to improve the care provided for children with mental health problems and wherever possible, facilitates the use of community-based care with minimum medical intervention. Throughout the region, HealthProm also promotes practice that minimises the risk of infectious diseases- particularly those contracted during hospital or medical treatment. Volunteers are the lifeblood of HealthProm's work. Healthcare specialist work wherever possible, in a voluntary capacity and their work is supported by volunteers working administration, finance, fundraising, project support, communications and PR and research.
