Holy Cross Centre
The Holy Cross Centre Trust works to promote the inclusion of social isolated and marginalized individuals. We accomplish our this work through innovative projects that support people’s desire to be active in their community, apart of social networks, and valued for what they can give back, as opposed to what they need.
Main Activity
The Trust operates three main projects: The Holy Cross Centre Trust (HCC), The St Pancras Refugee Centre (SPaRC), and Camden and Islington FlexiCare (FlexiCare).
Description
We have volunteering opportunities across each of our three main projects. HCC is a mental health day centre that caters to the homeless population from across Camden and Islington. HCC opens four times a week in the afternoon, evenings, and weekend. It is well suited for both experienced and inexperience volunteers interested in getting work experience in the areas of mental health and homelessness.
SPaRC is a specialist information and advice service for refugees and asylum seekers. SPaRC also operates two drop-in sessions. SPaRC is suited for both experienced and inexperience volunteers interested in learning more about the issues that face refugee and asylum seekers.
FlexiCare is specialist floating support services that provides clients with enduring mental health issues support within their own homes. FlexiCare support works work one-on-one with clients out in the community. Because of this, FlexiCare is generally not a project suited for first time volunteers or people with little experience working in the area of mental health. People interested in FlexiCare often want to explore issues surrounding mental health in greater depth than those interested in HCC.
