Manor Garden Befriending and Respite Scheme

The Manor Gardens Befriending and Respite Scheme aims to give social support to older people with mental health issues, mainly dementia and to allow their carer some respite. It is vital for a carer to have a break as they often suffer with depression themselves, so a short break once a week is a real help.

Main Activity

Volunteer befrienders provide support & companionship through visiting someone in their home for a few hours a week. Activities can include chatting over a cup of tea, playing games, trips out eg to shops, pub, park. Whilst providing this support you are also enabling their carer some much needed time off.
