Description

The Refugee Therapy Centre offers support, counselling and psychotherapy to refugees and asylum seekers. We offer individual, couple, family and group therapy based on an assesment of needs, and we give priority to children, young people and their families. The overall aim of the centre is to empower refugees to deal with their psychological difficulties in an effective and appropriate manner.

The Refugee & Asylum Seeker Mentoring Project establishes supportive relationships between mentors who have lived in the UK for some time and refugee/asylum seeker mentees. This involves weekly one-to-one support sessions lasting 1 hour which focus on helping refugees get to know their
new environment and feel less isolated, as well as providing the with English language support.

It is a chance to gain valuable face-to-face work experience in the field of mental health, to learn about the issues refugees and asylum seekers face, to have regular supervision with a senior psychologist or psychotherapist, and to develoop and use your abilities for the good of the community.
