Description
Richard House is London's first Children's hospice. Built on land, which was once part of the Royal Docks, Richard House cares for children with life limiting and life threatening conditions, and supports their families.
Core purpose : "To accompany families with children and young people with life limiting/life threatening conditions during the child or young person's journey through life to death, creating positive experiences along the way which become good memories for the future."
Hospices are places of fun and laughter as well as sometimes sadness and tears. Like all children's hospices, Richard House aims to help life to be lived to the full and so provide good memories for the future. The Care programme at Richard House has three arms : Residential care, Day care and Befriending.
There is no statutory funding for Richard House (like all children's hospices), so every penny of the £2 million is that it costs to run Richard House every year has to be raised through a variety of ways.
