Sense
Sense is a national charity that supports and campaigns for children and adults who are deafblind. We provide specialist information advice and services to deafblind people, their families, carers and the professionals who work with them. In addition, we support people who have sensory impairments with additional disabilities.
Main Activity
- Deliver direct support to more than 400 families with deafblind children
- Enable deafblind people to live more independent lives in Sense-run houses and flats and offer educational and other activities to deafblind people through our day services.
- Organise holidays for deafblind people
- Provide deafblind people with a communicator-guide, one-to-one support that helps them to remain independent
- Give information and advice to people, through our new national information service and our regional offices
- Campaign for change - and a better future for deafblind people. This included setting up a new project to train deafblind people to campaign on their own behalf.

Description
Sense organises a holiday programme that enables deafblind people to have fun in a supportive environment, gain new experiences and meet new people. Our holidays also give parents and carers a chance to have a well-earned break. Around 200 volunteers and leaders go along each summer to make these holidays a unique experience. The role of the volunteer is, as part of a team, to enable deafblind holidaymakers to enjoy all aspects of the holiday, and to ensure the holiday runs as smoothly as possible. You don't need to have done anything similar before as the preparation day and training pack ensure volunteers have all the skills they need before their holiday begins. We are looking for volunteers who are committed to the holiday and who have the enthusiasm and drive to make it work. Although hard work, this holiday may bring more challenges, fun and new experiences than you thought possible.
