Description
Shelter is a national campaigning charity that provides practical advice, support and innovative services to over 100,000 homeless or badly housed people every year. This work gives us direct experience of the problems caused by the shortage of affordable housing. It provides the evidence we use to advocate for national legislative and regional policy outcomes that will benefit homeless people and those living in bad housing.
A voluntary opportunity exists to work with the London and South East Regional Campaign Officer to participate in and support the campaign activity in these regions. It will provide an insight into the formation and delivery of a campaign strategy and will introduce the successful campaigning activities, including event management.
The applicant can also gain a rich understanding of housing and homelessness and we will have access to the breadth of national and regional social policy around these issues. Training is available too, either in homelessness law or to bolster project management skills.
There will also be opportunities to meet Shelter staff in other parts of the organisation to provide the applicant with an insight into the workings of a large and renowned chartry.
