Description

The St Pancras Refugee Centre provides advice and assistance to refugees and asylum seekers living in Camden and Islington. As part of our on going work with this vulnerable client group we run a Drop-in Session every Friday between 12 and 3. This is a safe space for people to relax and socialise with one another. A hot meal is provided which is cooked by session workers and volunteers, most of whom come from the four corners of the world, consequently the food is always varied and delicious. During the session there is access to the internet, a number of clients enjoy taking advantage of this. There is also an opportunity for clients to express themselves though arts and crafts, and this is supervised by a professional artist, as well as playing a challenging game of table tennis or pool. The role of a volunteer is to assist with the setting up of the hall, assist with the preparation of the meal and to be willing to befriend those that attend and help in the general running of the session.
