Street League

Street League aims to get disavantaged people, 50% of whom are homeless, into work.
Street League activity raises motivation, improves self-esteem, and gives participants both sports-based qualifications and employability skills

Main Activity

A structured football and basketball programme
And an educational programme called Directions 2 Work

Description

Street League provides 2 hours of training per week of football/basketball and fitness training to organisations within the league. The training sessions take place all over London on a weekly basis. Once a month we hold a matchday where each team plays each other off in the league to establish positions. There are 2 seasons in the year, and at the end of each season we hold a Cup Competition where all the teams plus a number of sponsors (corporate organisations) play in a tournament. Both tournaments take place at Mile End stadium.
We also provice an education programme called Directions 2 Work which includes a number of programmes and certificates including the 'Community Sports Leaders Award', FA coaching certificates, employability skills and various other transferable skills.

May 2007 - note that we're not currently recruiting coaches.
