The Baytree Centre
The Baytree Centre aims to create supportive pathways towards social inclusion for inner city families.
Main Activity
The Baytree Centre offers Skills for Life training and education (Literacy, Numeracy, IT and English for Speakers of Other Languages) for women and after-school activities (Study Club, Dance, Drama, Duke of Edinburgh Award, Cookery, Art, ESOL etc.) for girls aged 8 to 18. Our approach is holistic, with a strong emphasis on personal and social development for all beneficiaries of our services.
Description
The Baytree Centre is a non-governmental and non-profit making charity based in the centre of Brixton. We take a holistic approach to training and education and place a strong emphasis on personal and social development to empower our beneficaries to break the intergenerational cycle of deprivation and social exclusion. Volunteers are required to fulfil exciting, interesting and varied roles within our Training Service (supporting our adult learners) and Youth Service (providing and supporting activities for 8-18 year old girls), and organise community fundraising events. Volunteers are recruited to specific roles based on specific need, yet are given the scope and support to develop their own role and opportunity. The Baytree Centre volunteers are highly valued.
