The Roundhouse
A performing arts centre which is a charitable trust because any profits are used to fund the Roundhouse Studios, a centre with state-of-the-art facilities providing education in the creative arts (e.g. drama, radio production, film-making) for young people aged 13-25. Young people who would not normally have such opportunities open to them are particularly targetted by an out-reach programme, though the courses are open to anyone. Courses are subsidised and there are bursaries for those in need.
Main Activity
A venue for many types of performance from rock/jazz/blues/indie music with major artists to daring physical theatre to circus arts to modern dance to conventional drama. There are two auditoria, one very large and the other a small studio theatre. Young people involved in drama projects in the Roundhouse Studios often appear in productions in the studio theatre.

Description
We use volunteers for our Front of House team under the direction of the House Manager. The Roundhouse is a well-known, high profile venue offering a chance to experience a wide variety of performances. Volunteers get an inside look at this major venue and gain some experience of how such a venue is run. They also gain valuable customer service experience. Training is given as an on-going process. In addition, the volunteers get to see some or all of the shows for freeas well as earning vouchers for complimentary tickets by working here. This opportunity is of mutual benefit as we are able to put more money into our Roundhouse Studios programme by using volunteers for Front of House
