Project Leaders Training

Tues 21st Oct - 5.30 - 9 pm
Tues 4th Nov - 5.30pm - 9 pm
Mon 17th Nov - 5.30 pm - 9pm
Weds 10th Dec - 1.30pm - 5pm
(Note that you only need to attend one session).

This training course is aimed at students who are interested in setting up and managing their own volunteering project in the community, or who are taking over as Project Leaders for an existing Innovations Project. The course will cover project planning, volunteer management, practicalities of running a project and policies and procedures.

Face Painting Training
Tuesday 7th, 14th and 21st October, 5.30-8.30pm (you must attend all three sessions)
Learn face painting skills from professional face painters and apply your new skills by as a volunteer, painting childrens faces at community events. The training will be held over three Tuesday evenings and you will need to be able to attend all three sessions. After your training you will be expected to volunteer at 6 events over the year. This a great way to learn some fun skills for free and get into volunteering.

Basic Life Support First Aid
Monday, 6th October, 4.30-8.30pm or
Monday 17th November, 4.30-8.30pm
This training is aimed at volunteers and Project Leaders who want to learn more about First Aid. During this course you will learn the key skills of first aid and gain confidence to act effectively in an emergency. The course covers scene assessment, communication and delegation, safety and hygiene, communicable diseases, primary survey DRSABC assessment, CPR and resuscitation, choking, first aid kits for the home and workplace, control of bleeding, shock and reporting accidents at work.

Party Decorations
Monday 13th October, Tuesday 11th November and Tuesday 20th January
5.30-8.00pm (you must attend all three sessions)
The first session will cover basic party decorating skills, the second session will cover balloon party decorations and the third session will cover flower arrangement. Students attending the training will become part of the Party Decorations Team who will provide services to London charities.

Team Work
Tuesday 14th October, 5.30-8.30pm
In this workshop you will learn how to clarify the roles and responsibilties of team members and leaders; you’ll learn the importance of good communications within the team and gain an understanding of different styles of communication. The session will also cover the importance of an assertive approach, handling conflict and clarifying accountabilities.

Leadership
Wednesday 22nd October, 2-6pm
Interested in getting an insight into leadership? Then this is the session for you. It looks at what qualities are required for good effective leadership, communication skills, and how to get the best out of your team.
Trainer: Ann Paul, management and leadership expert.

Conflict Resolution
Thursday 30th October, 5.30-8.30pm
The workshop will explore common ways we deal with conflict and how we analayse and deal with conflict effectively.

Volunteers will gain skills and understanding through doing scenarios and also gain general information about how to deal with any conflict situations which may arise in their volunteering.

Mural Design
Wednesday 12th November, 5.30-8.30pm
The workshop covers the design and planning of a mural and painting a mock mural. Students who do the training use their skills to paint murals for schools and community organisations for free. Students will also design and paint back drops for theatre productions for local organisations and schools.

Speak Up! Speak Out
!
Saturday 15th November, 11am-5pm
This all-day workshop is designed to empower and build confidence with all forms of verbal comunication. Includes: impromptu speaking, structuring presentations self assessment, managing nerves, delivery skills, tips for PowerPoint, handling Q&As and enjoying speaking in public.

Making Meetings Magic
Wednesday 26th November, 2-5pm
We all spend time meeting together, but often come away feeling disappointed and frustrated. This session will look at easy ways to get the most out of meetings, and to turn them into magic places to change the world.
Trainer: Martin Farrell from 'Get2ThePoint'.

Volunteering and your CV

Volunteer work helps you develop invaluable skills that many employeers are looking for. This training session will teach you how to reflect the skills and experiences you have had through volunteering in your CV and in a job interview. The training will be delivered by industry prefessionals so that you get an inside view of what recruiters are looking for in potential canditates.

Pitching Your Idea

If you have a new idea for a project or innovation and you need to communicate it to gain support or funding, this training session will give you expert advice on how to pitch your idea effectively. Gain skills and build your confidence from professioanls who know how it’s done. This training is particularly useful for Project Leaders applying for funding from the small grants board.

Events Management
Date: To be confirmed
Learn the basics in event management. Session includes tips on planning, organising and managing your event.
